The Drifters ‘You’re More Than a Number’ tops charts again

Remember watching The Drifters perform on Top of the Pops back in the ’70s? What a treat that was! I recently came across a clip of them singing “You’re More Than a Number in My Little Red Book” on the show, and it brought back so many great memories.

The Drifters were in fine form, looking sharp in their matching suits as they crooned that catchy tune. Sure, the lip-syncing was a bit off, as groups usually mimed to their records on TOTP in those days. But that didn’t take away from the joy of seeing these talented fellas doing their thing.

I had the pleasure of catching The Drifters live at The Golden Garter in Manchester around 1983. Let me tell you, they put on a fabulous show! Hearing those smooth harmonies and toe-tapping rhythms in person was an unforgettable experience.

“You’re More Than a Number” has always been one of my favorite Drifters songs. It’s got that perfect blend of romantic lyrics and upbeat melody that just makes you feel good inside. Whenever it comes on the radio, I can’t help but sing along and think back to those carefree days of my youth.

Want to take a nostalgic trip down memory lane? Check out this charming clip of The Drifters performing “You’re More Than a Number in My Little Red Book” on Top of the Pops and let the good times roll!
