The ‘Golden Girls’ has brought us all joy through the years. Still, an incredibly tender and hilarious moment aired during the 1989 season 5 on episode 7. The episode is called “Not Another Monday.”
In this episode, the girls are babysitting a young couple’s baby as they take off for a trip into the woods. The baby is constantly fussing. Everyone, especially a Grandma, knows the woes of trying to get a sweet newborn to sleep. At this moment in the episode, the three characters Dorothy, Blanche, and Rose take to humming and singing the tune of Mr. Sandman to get the baby in the stroller to take a nap.
They struggle with getting the song down at first but eventually succeed and put the baby to sleep. As the girls creep across the room, pushing the stroller, the very second they stop, the baby awakens immediately and starts crying again. This initiates the dynamic trio to sing again, and as they start singing, they all simultaneously perform some unorchestrated choreography.
As they begin to get into the tune and dance, the scene ends when Sophia enters the room, shaking her head in disapproval and telling them how terrible they are. It was a historical moment in comedy. This scene is one of the reasons why so many fans adore The Golden Girls.
Everything is always so perfectly timed and hilarious. So many fans can relate closely to some of the Golden Girls’ situations. Even if you can’t, the comedic atmosphere of the show is undoubtable. It will quickly become one of your favorite shows.
There is a reason people still watch this great show, even today!
