On October 12, 1988, English singer and songwriter Calum Scott was born. Calum has taken the pop singing world by storm since he competed on ‘Britain’s Got Talent.’ While he only finished 6th in the contest, he released a single the following year of Robyn’s hit ‘Dancing on My Own.’
It peaked at number 2 on the U.K. Singles Chart and became Britain’s best-selling single of the summer of 2016. Calum later went on to release the album ‘Only Human,’ which hit number 4 on the U.K. Album chart.
The hit single ‘You are the Reason’ came from the ‘Only Human’ album and has since been streamed over one billion times, selling 5 million copies worldwide. The music video has reached over 800 million views.
Another single from the album titled ‘No Matter What’ was recorded for the special edition of ‘Only Human.’ It became the album’s 5th overall single. Calum wrote ‘What I Miss Most’ as an homage to his family, friends, and town that he missed while touring.
Calum impresses with his songwriting and vocals. On ‘Britain’s Got Talent,’ Simon Cowell said to him, ‘I’ve never ever in all the years I’ve done this show heard a guy with the talent you’ve got. Seriously. And the version was sensational, and that shows to me that actually, you’re more than a singer, you’re an artist, and that’s why you got that (the buzzer).’
That’s some high praise from Simon, who isn’t easily impressed. Calum’s talent and heart have driven his success story. His fans comment on his fantastic sound and instantly recognizable voice!
