The Happy Jesters were a trio of comedic geniuses who sometimes dabbled in a bit of singing. The group brought the laughs and the music on ‘The Ed Sullivan Show.’
Performing the song “Somebody Stole My Gal,” The Happy Jesters added goofy antics and silly falsettos to make their performance unforgettable.
While two of their number sang the chorus in harmony, the third put on silly face after silly face. The joker paraded back and forth across the stage in mock outrage at having his gal stolen.
At one point, he dons a sailor cap and sticks a pipe in his mouth. Scrunching up his face, he scowls at the audience, looking like Popeye. The audience responds in kind with regaling laughter.
The talented comedian also lends his singing voice to the trio in a comical falsetto that makes him sound like he has sucked the helium out of a birthday party balloon.
The Happy Jesters were renowned for their comedy performances and for making people laugh. These three certainly added to their list of talents by harmonizing their hilarious gags to music.
Ed Sullivan certainly knew how to book the best performers on his show, and The Happy Jesters are no exception. Their goofy stunts are sure to make you laugh long after they leave the stage.
