‘The Jeffersons’ is one of the longest-running sitcoms of all time with an eleven-season history. One of the most memorable couples, George and Weezy Jefferson, was at its helm.

In 1975, The Jeffersons premiered, having its main characters already established as the neighbors of Archie Bunker on the sitcom ‘All in the Family.’
Though The Jeffersons was a comedic sitcom, it did tackle tough subjects, such as racism, suicide, the KKK, and gun control. However, most of the episodes were full of laughs.

Many of those laughs came from the Jeffersons’ maid, Florence, who acted like anything but a maid. In this clip, Florence’s liberties cause Weezy and George a lot of confusion and trouble.
Weezy, clearly tired, walks to her kitchen early in the morning. She sees a man behind the paper, reading, and assumes it’s her husband, George. She greets him and thanks him for making coffee.

The audience already knows this is not George, but Florence’s date, TJ, from the previous night. Instead of introducing himself to Weezy, TJ continues to hide behind the paper and lets her think it’s her husband until he reveals his identity.
Weezy panics, thinking there’s a burglar in her home though all it seems he’s stealing is the paper and some coffee. George gets involved and tries to defend his home until Florence returns to the apartment and explains. However, the comedy always expands when Florence enters the scene. George and Weezy sure weren’t ready for this one.
