Aretha Franklin’s saucy track reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart forty years ago today, and in the four decades since, people have been singing it — at times off-key — ever before.

Aretha Franklin was just 18 years of age when she bagged a major recording contract with Columbia Records in 1960. Six years later, after her contract with Columbia Records expired, she signed with Atlantic Records and had a string of hits. Based on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Franklin’s most excellent song was “Respect,” She was the first woman ever to be ceremoniously added into in 1987.

Franklin won two Grammys for “Respect” in 1967, one for Best Rhythm & Blues Solo Vocal Performance and the other for Best Rhythm and Blues Recording with producer Jerry Wexler.

The high-volume release schedule of Anthem Lights results in a mix of original music, cover songs, and mashups from various famous artists such as BTS, Taylor Swift, Josh Groban, and others. This variety and catalog of songs translate into an unforgettable live music experience!
