The Oak Ridge Boys perform ‘Elvira’ 40 years after its debut

The Oak Ridge Boys gets our feet tapping on the floor again in this energetic reunion performance. They recently celebrated the 40th anniversary of one of their most famous songs and treated us to a live performance.

It is hard to believe that ‘Alvira’ was released 40 years ago. It is even harder to believe that The Oak Ridge Boys could perform this song with the same splendor decades later. But fans and newbies are elated by this video that is gaining popularity online.

Interestingly, this song was not written by them but by Dallas Frazier in the 1960s. It was only in 1981 when The Oak Ridge Boys released their own version of the song that it took off.

The song instantly shot up the Billboard charts and sold more than two million units. The song became one of the most recognizable country songs of all time and remains very popular today.

Fast forward 40 years, and here we have a video of the same song, performed by the same band that made it famous. It is incredibly pleasing to see that the band still performs with the same vigor and energy it did all those years ago.

Michelle Dell commented online: ‘I used to stop and dance to this song every time I heard it playing somewhere when I was a kid. It didn’t matter where we were, I would do it.’

Many would agree that nothing has changed. This anniversary video still has the same effect it had when Michelle was a child. Within a few seconds into the video, you will feel your foot stomping the floor or your head bobbing along to the addictive rhythm of this beautiful song.
