Legendary Motown Stars Unite: The Temptations and Supremes “Are Out of Sight!”

In the 1960s, The Temptations & The Supremes (lead singer Diana Ross) were considered as 2 of the most prominent Motown groups. Their combined musical talent made a truly incredible performance on one of the episodes of The Ed Sullivan Show that aired on November 19, 1967.

The iconic performances of the two groups on The Ed Sullivan Show get remastered in HD. Thus, this video clip recently gained numerous online followers and has grabbed much limelight. It features the 2 groups singing “Get Ready, Stop! In The Name of Love, My Guy, Baby Love, & (I Know) I’m Losing You.”

Ed Sullivan welcomes them onstage with a brief introduction about the groups. He states that The Temptations started their career as The Primes. When a group of girls joined, they changed their names to The Primettes & later renamed their group’s name again. The boys’ group became The Temptations & the girls’ group became The Supremes.

The two groups performed on TV for the 1st time on The Ed Sullivan Show, singing a medley of each other’s hits. The Supremes, which features Diana Ross and her other 2 team members, Mary Wilson & Barbara Martin, perform the Temptations’ songs “Get Ready” and “I’m Losing You.”

David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, and his fellow members from The Temptations sing the classic “Baby Love” & “Stop! In the Name of Love.” This is initially sung by The Supremes.

The background of the stage is colored bright pink and has the names of the 2 groups written on it. The Temptations & The Supremes took turns singing each other’s greatest hits.

The Supremes opened the show with their hit song “In & Out of Love.” Later, The Temptations performed a refreshing version of their music, “Hello Young Lovers,” followed by a rendition of “Don’t Look Back.”
