Back on Season 12 of The Voice, one of the standouts was Casi Joy from Smithville, Missouri. Her powerhouse vocals impressed the coaches so much in her blind audition that she got the much-coveted “four-chair turn,” meaning all four coaches thought she had what it took to win the competition. The country singer chose the obvious choice for her coach – Blake Shelton.
Even though Casi won both the battle round and the knockout performance, she was eliminated in the first round of live shows. Her coach, Blake Shelton, was incredibly proud of her and described her perfectly: “She has this electric energy when she’s on stage and has these unique things that she can do vocally. She’s an edgier version of a country artist. She’s old school but has a youthful energy about her. There’s no stopping Casi Joy.”
Casi didn’t let the disappointment discourage her. She regularly shares videos of herself singing on her social media pages, where she performs both original songs and covers. Blending traditional country with pop, she has had 27 million views on Facebook, and more than 7 million views on her YouTube videos.
On a beautiful day in October, Casi chose to share a very personal moment with her fans. It is very well the most “personal” one she’s shared. It showed a very intimate part of her life. On that day, Casi married Bryan Lankford in a gorgeous outdoor ceremony.
When the time came to exchange their vows, Casi couldn’t think of a better, more-fitting way to give hers than through music. She surprised both Bryan and the wedding guests with an extremely sweet, romantic song that she wrote herself especially for this moment.
The only two people besides herself that new about this were the pastor and the DJ. She told her fans that she had only sung it one other time before the wedding and said, “So what you’re seeing is the second time I even got to sing it, and I’ve NEVER been so nervous!”
Standing at the altar, the pastor hands the microphone to the beautiful bride. After a little confusion with turning the microphone on, Casi pours her heart out to her soon-to-be husband. Bryan couldn’t keep his eyes off his bride.
The lyrics of her song are so incredibly touching, and her vocals are perfect – just as perfect as that moment was. How kind of her to let her fans be a part of such a personal, special moment in her life.
