The wild west lives on in the Cowboy Fast Draw Championship

Cowboy Fast Draw Championship

A video featuring gun enthusiasts participating in a relatively new professional sport is growing in popularity.

The video opens with people drawing guns from the holsters and quickly firing the weapon from the hip. This scene takes the viewer back to a spaghetti-western movie scene, and instantly, a smile forms on the face.

The Cowboy Fast Draw Association (CFDA) was established in 2002. Since then, it has been presenting the Cowboy Fast Draw National Championships annually. This time around, it is held in Mitchell, South Dakota.

The current director, nicknamed Quick Cal, of CFDA, explains the sport’s history to the viewers and also elaborates on its participants. Young and old, men, women, and children may participate.

Quick Al explains that the reflexes and skills needed for this sport do not fade with age, and that means that a man or woman in their 60s could be just as good or better than someone in their teens or twenties.

The video goes on to introduce some of the participants. The spirit of the west is alive and well in the names of the participants. Some chose these aliases by random, while others have deeper and sentimental meanings. Viewers meet participants such as Miss B Haven, Mongo, Dakota Rose, Boulder Vaquero, Wench, and more.

It is very intriguing and comical to listen to some of the origin stories of these aliases. Quick Al also commented in the video: ‘It is the most fun you can have a gun.’ After seeing this video, it is pretty difficult to disagree with Quick Al.
