The Laryngospasms is a musical parody group consisting of four certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs). While singing Neil Sedaka’s classic hit “Breaking Up Is Hard To Do” at Minneapolis School of Anesthesia student Christmas party in 1990, they realized that they could make a parody based off of it called “Waking Up Is Hard To Do”. That is how their first hit came to be.
