This Hairy Frogfish’s Bite is So Fast, Even Slow-Motion Video Struggles To Capture It

Witness the Fastest Biter in the World – and at 1/6000th of a Second You May Blink – It Makes No Difference!

Super amazing I tell you. That is to witness the current fastest bite in the animal kingdom. One cannot actually say you have witnessed it, as at 1/6000th of a second from start to finish, you will still miss it even in slow motion on a standard camera. So do not worry about blinking, it actually makes no difference. You can just see the prey is there and the next moment it disappeared from the screen. You can virtually take before and after still photo pictures and it will have the same effect.

If you think it is an insect, you are wrong. On the technical or mechanical side (if you wish) of this world speed record holder’s technique, are a few amazing aspects. The fact that it can expand its mouth to twelve times its original size is an advantage, but doing it at such a speed is thus so more daunting. Super suction lies at the heart of this speed record and that is obviously where the big mouth part plays an enormous part.

The actual power of the suction action has never been measured and it is doubtful if it will be at all possible. Considering the speed at which the prey is sucked in and the mouth is closed, it must easily top a level 4 hurricane by twenty times (although in small scale).

Just goes to show, not everything that sucks is bad, unless you are the prey. By now you will probably be quite anxious to hear the identity of the world’s fastest biter. For that, you will have to see the short video and (nearly) see the incredible action taking place for yourself.
