Mother Nature has a remarkable way of protecting her own. She has given her sons and daughters special gifts to ensure that they can survive what the world can dish out. We all know that sometimes the planet that we all share can be a cruel place. Survival of the fittest is the way that it has to be. We humans are supposed to be at the top of the food chain, but I sometimes wonder how we survive. We have been given the ability to make conscious decisions that help us overcome the obstacles that sometime are placed in front of us.
But what about our cousins in the animal world who rely solely on instinct to survive. That is where Mother Nature is such a genius. We have all seen how certain animals can blend into their environments. The snow leopard that is almost impossible to spot on the snow covered plains where they live. The octopus who can change his color to suit his environment. And of course the chameleon, one of the world most fascinating creatures.
Now let me explain about one of Mother Nature’s special creatures. Have you ever heard of a Tahr? No, me either until I watched the clip below. Technically they are known as a species of large Asian Artiodactyl Ungulates, related to the wild goat. Well I’m glad I got that out of the way, I am still none the wiser, how about you? Simply put they are a big version of a goat that live in several different areas around the globe. They can be found in Oman, South India, the Himalayas and have been introduced to the Southern Alps of New Zealand and South Africa.
What makes these creatures so special is their incredible means of protection from their predators. The clip below shows a quiet hill where there is apparently nothing to see. Before I reveal the secret of this clip let me explain a little more about the Tahr. They feed during the morning, then spend the rest of the day resting, sound familiar? They have a very stringent routine, in fact you will find them at the same location every day, I guess nature’s form of a lounge lizard.
When you click on the link below, you will think that you are looking at nothing. A nice grassy plain with not much else going on. BORING……..then suddenly the hill comes alive with a dozen or so of these well hidden animals. I will tell you now, you will be looking at this clip over and over again to try and spot exactly where these elusive animals are hiding. You see, Mother Nature in her wisdom gave these incredible animals the gift of camouflage.
