Gorillas and humans share highly similar DNA. They are known to be one of the four species of great apes that are the closest living relatives of human beings. These beautiful animals are not only known for their size and their strength, but also for their gentle demeanor. In this video, we get to meet a very fascinating gorilla.
Meet Ambam. This silverback gorilla is a resident of Port Lympne Wild Animal Park in Kent, England. Ambam is like all other gorillas, but what separates him from his fellow apes is the fact that he can walk around upright on two legs quite comfortably!
Many visitors come to the park just to see him walk on his two legs. His special ability has also made him an internet sensation. Scientists believe he may have learned to do this by imitating his keepers.
Ambam is seen being a regular gorilla at the beginning of the clip, in the enclosure with the others, just minding his own business. But soon enough, he stands completely upright! I never thought about a gorilla never standing upright, but when he did it, it looked so strange. He looked, well, human!
He soon learned not only to stand, but to walk. In fact, he has quite a confident swagger, showing off in front of the many tourists that flock to see him now that he is an Internet sensation.
