An Orangutan in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina has taken up the responsibility of being the babysitter of a group of baby tigers. If this video doesn’t melt you down, I don’t know what will! This orangutan had actually seen the zookeepers feeding and playing with the young cubs and he wanted to give it a try too.
It is amazing to see different animals befriend each other. And this pairing is also very adorable! Orangutans and tiger cubs? Nothing can be cuter than that! An orangutan’s arms are well suited for trees since they spend around 90 % of their time on it, but when they see lively tiger cubs, they can’t help but come down and play with them!
What’s even more amazing is that this orangutan is a male, but he has quite a maternal instinct. He loves to bottle feed the cubs after seeing the zookeepers do it, and the tiger cubs lie in his arms like babies. I can’t imagine anything sweeter than this.
But this orangutan also loves to play with the cubs, often throwing them over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, and they love it. Of course, tiger cubs love to play and roughhouse a bit, and this orangutan is up for the challenge. Look at his sweet face when he’s looking at these cubs. This just made my day watching these little cubs play with their new caretaker.
