Tim Allen Was At His Low Point Decades Ago. I Was Amazed At What Helped His Rise To Success.

When you watch “Last Man Standing” or the syndicated episodes of “Home Improvement”, you think that Tim Allen has it all. Thanks to the success of both shows, he’s a millionaire many times over. Add successful movie franchises like “The Santa Clause” and “Toy Story”, and he’s probably swimming in it like Scrooge McDuck. You’d be very surprised to learn that wasn’t the case and he almost went the wrong direction in life when he was a young man.

Allen was an angry person when his father died in a car accident with a drunk driver. He was all of 11 years old and one of the most important people in his life was ripped out really unfairly. His bitterness led him to a life of dealing drugs and he was imprisoned for over two years. It was when he left prison and he did a stand-up comedy routine on a bet that his career took off. Before he knew it, he was on TV.

It took him a long time to get over his father’s death. He was furious that God would allow something like this to happen. Then after his time in prison, he turned back to God and turned his life over to him. He feels that God opened these doors for him – though Allen does not coast by any means. He’s a tremendously hard worker, but he’s the embodiment of the saying, “God helps those who help themselves.

Allen has found success again in the sit-com world with the show “Last Man Standing.” This time, he’s the older curmudgeon, but there’s still the whiff of the idealistic Tim Taylor still lurking underneath. His “tool kit” are the tools of the outdoorsman, this time. He’s a different kind of angry, being a conservative in a liberal workplace. Though he’s found a way to channel that in his show.

What an amazing story. I’ve always liked Allen as an actor. I like him as a man, even if I don’t always agree with his politics. What do you think? Please be sure to leave a comment below!
