Sandy is a 77-year-old woman who recently transitioned to tiny living. Since buying her tiny home on her 75th birthday, she has enjoyed living in Escalante Village, a tiny house community with stunning views.

Her house is approximately 8’x32’ and around 275 square feet, which is plenty of space for Sandy and her tiny dog. The outdoor area includes a picnic table and a deck she sanded and restained herself as a summer project.
The interior of Sandy’s home is stunning, with warm wooden countertops, greenery, and clean, bright walls. Sandy’s design sense is consistent throughout the house, with each area complimenting the other.

Sandy is open about prioritizing her needs and making the space precisely what she wants. Instead of shelving, she opted for windows to open up the space. She replaced the “traditional” tiny home couch with a comfortable chair she truly loves.
Storage is implemented beautifully throughout the house. She has cabinetry in the kitchen and a full-size fridge to help with food storage. Drawers are under nearly every cabinet, and the builders even included a tiny “garage” on the outside of the tiny home for outdoor storage.

Because of her age, Sandy prefers to have everything on the first floor. She has downsized so much that the upstairs loft is totally empty, though it could be used as a storage space in the future if needed.
Since she has a smaller indoor space, she spends much less time cleaning. Instead, Sandy enjoys biking, hiking, and spending time with her neighbors. One of the greatest gifts of tiny living has been less upkeep and more free time. She looks forward to tiny living for the rest of her life.
