If this was the ice that drowned the Titanic, we're almost sure it'd be more disastrous. The Columbia glacier calving event in Alaska records one of the hugest reactions from experts and viewers alike.
Glacier calving is a process where the ice breaks off a glacier's terminus. This happens typically near large bodies of water or lakes. The ice falls into the ocean and causes certain reactions. Christopher Columbus would be on top of the world if he discovered this first.
Like in those action movies where a bomb will go off on a snow mountain, the snow comes crashing down in a near-deadly manner swallowing all in its way. A similar reaction happened at the Columbia glacier event.
People come from far and wide to witness the drama unfold at Alaska's popular glacier event. It is a popular tourist site as this glacier near the ocean serves as a thrilling sight for many.

While others visit for leisure, scientists use this glacier to carry out their evaluations. Their findings reveal the Columbian glacier has been in catastrophic retreat since 1982, and large bodies of ice have been lost due to excessive calving.
A YouTuber by the name of Skeater garnered over 1million views on this video. The rare footage shows the process of the ice falling into the water from all angles and parts of the glacier. It was a regular watch of ice breaking off. Then suddenly, a 200 ft shooter is caught on camera.
The music plays in the background, but the cameraman is fantastic enough to let the natural cracks of the 200ft shooter rising above water grace the scene.
It is an incredible sight and is one of the largest calves caught on camera in the country. Comments from the video reveal that it was like a movie scene; some even described it as the greatest shooter ever. The guy behind the camera screams in excitement. And honestly, if I was the one recording, I'll have had a similar reaction.
