Sir Tom Jones knows how to electrify a crowd. After decades of success, Tom is considered one of the best performers of all time, and his live TV moments are pure adrenaline!
In this performance from Tom’s variety TV show from 1969, he sings ‘Treat Her Right.’ The R&B song has a funky beat, and Tom is all too willing to move his body for the crowd.
Tom is wearing a suit with an open-collar shirt while dancing on a floor that is illuminated with red and green squares. He’s backed by an orchestra on risers who provide a great backbeat.
Tom knows how to work the crowd too. He takes a handkerchief from a woman in the crowd and dabs his forehead with it. Then, he returns it to her, and she swoons.
He leans over a partition and kisses the woman next to her, and the audience cheers the whole time. Tom has a powerful voice but isn’t afraid to move his body to the beat, which impresses the ladies surrounding the stage.
He moves to the other side of the stage and kisses another woman. There’s an instrumental break with a great guitar riff. Tom dances frantically, swinging his head around and waving his arms wildly.
He kicks, jumps, and swings his hips as the backing orchestra plays the groove. The song ends with Tom shouting, “Treat her right, treat her right, treat her right!” The crowd erupts as he smiles back at them.
