Tom’s performance of ‘Without Love’ was featured on his variety TV show, ‘This is Tom Jones.’ The series ran from 1969 to 1971 with a total of 65 episodes, and Tom was nominated for a Golden Globe Award.
While he didn’t win, Tom was considered for ‘Best Actor in a Television Series- Musical or Comedy.’ The show contained musical performances and comedy sketches.
In this performance, Tom stands alone on a dark stage lit by dim green and blue lights. A solo spotlight shines on him as he wears a suit, and there’s a group of people behind him on risers with instruments.
The song has a gentle introduction, and Tom says, “To live for today, and to love for tomorrow, is the wisdom of a fool. Because tomorrow is promised to no one. You see, love is that wonderful thing that the whole wide world needs plenty of.”
