A dog, later named Indy, was found abandoned in front of a hotel located in a mountain pass in Northern Romania. The hotel owner kept chasing Indy away, fearing that the poor dog would scare tourists away. The owner even instructed his employees to not give Indy any food. Luckily one of the tourists saw the dog and decided to help her.

The ones who left her there thought that Indy might find a shelter or end up getting adopted or rescued by some of the hotel employees. However, abandoning her should have never been an option. Even the temperature had dropped down to minus 20°F. This made it more difficult for the dog to live outside in the open.
The tourist continued to feed Indy every day and even brought a crate and a warm blanket to keep her warm during the cold nights. Unfortunately, the kind man could not adopt her as he already had other adopted pets. However, he was determined to not leave the resort until he had found a solution to save Indy.

The tourist contacted several rescue groups, and soon Indy arrived in the care of “Howl of a Dog.” The mountain resort where Indy was found was more than 300 miles away. But the kind tourist offered to drive all that distance to bring Indy to the shelter volunteers. His vacation had become a rescue mission. Although friendly, Indy was hesitant to get into the crate.
After a few failed attempts to catch the dog, the tourist eventually tricked her into getting into the crate. This was probably her first sleep in a warm place in a very long time. The volunteers scanned Indy for a microchip when she arrived at the shelter, but she did not have one. Indy was estimated to be around 5 years old, but her front teeth were almost torn like a dog that’s twice her age.

The vet performed a complete physical exam, blood tests, and an ultrasound examination to check if her internal organs were damaged. Fortunately, Indy did not have any severe health issues. Indy now lived at the “Howl of a Dog” shelter and even recovered from the spay surgery. However, the innocent dog was still timid, so the volunteers decided to let her discover the new life at her own pace.
Indy was not interested in toys, probably because she had never had a chance to play with one before. But the volunteers believed that she would learn soon. The beautiful dog was learning new tricks daily and started making new friends. Indy, now Maple, recently found her perfect loving home in the United States.
