They came to South Africa looking to see the wildlife up close and personal. But then they were caught in a terrifying elephant stampede, and suddenly they were a little too close to nature.
Tourists on a safari in Kruger National Park wanted to get the chance to see wild animals and perhaps photograph them. This particular group didn’t expect to see a herd of wild elephants stampeding.
The elephants were trying to frighten off some lions, but when they happened upon the vehicle on the road, they took it also as a threat. Several of the larger elephants charged the vehicle, warning it off, and eventually the tour leader drove away to keep the tourists safe.
