This is the story of two German Shepherds who have differing opinions on the need for grooming. The first one is six months old Zena, who is very vocal about her disdain for the situation. And then there’s Zeus.
Zeus is the older dog who gets through the grooming without a fuss, while Zena looks like she’s trying to invoke the Geneva Conventions. Vanessa de Prophetis of Girl With The Dogs was having none of it and stoically groomed them both to a T.
In this hilarious video, we see alternating shots of Zena and Zeus at different stages of the grooming process.
In each shot, Zena is seen howling away at this affront to her dignity while Zeus is seen just chilling out as if he is at a spa day.
Vanessa talks us through the challenges of grooming Zena, punctuating each one with the line “and then there’s Zeus.”
This became such a funny catchphrase for the video that one user even suggested that Vanessa create “and then there’s Zeus” merchandise.
Towards the end of the session, Zena calms down a bit when Vanessa brushes her coat and sprays her down with some Jellybean cologne. Hopefully, she’ll get used to being pampered like this in the future.
