Inside Edition presented a recent investigation into a strange and incredibly dangerous phenomenon that has been causing concern among vehicle owners and car mechanics across the country – exploding car tires.
The scenario is rare but not impossible, especially if you are driving on underinflated tires or tires that have suffered undetected damage. These elements can create the right environment for an explosive tire.
When the vehicle owner or car mechanic starts to refill the tire, the rapid addition of new air stresses the damaged interior of the tire – and if the tire cannot sustain that sudden impact, it will explode.
The results sound like a bomb going off. More than the sound, the physical damage can destroy your car, lead to costly repair bills, even make your vehicle inoperable for a long period of time.

Beyond the car damage, an exploding tire can also seriously injure anyone in the vicinity. In some cases, it can be fatal. Fortunately, this is not a common occurrence and safety measures can be taken.
Experts suggest regular maintenance to your car to ensure your tires are damage-free and fully filled with air. The longer you drive on an underinflated tire, the greater the damage you can cause to your tire, wheel, and vehicle.
However, with regular maintenance and by remaining safe and vigilant while refilling vehicle tires, you can rest assured knowing that you are not in danger. Exploding tires are exceedingly rare, and with the proper safety measures in place, nearly impossible.
