Hey there, fellow Carson fans! What a blast from the past we have for you today. Remember when you'd stay up late just to catch Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show? I know I would. And boy, do I have a gem for you that's bound to take you right back to those good old days.

It's December 31, 1987, and Ronald Reagan is still President. A loaf of bread cost a mere 70 cents, and a gallon of gas was around 95 cents. You could still buy a new car for around $10,000, and a movie ticket would only set you back around $3.50. "Walk Like an Egyptian" by The Bangles was a chart-topping hit, and "Three Men and a Baby" was making people laugh at the movies. Good times, right?

So, in this nostalgic treasure from the archives of YouTube, we find the one and only Johnny Carson hosting his annual Singing Dog Contest on The Tonight Show. Can you believe it's been so long? Johnny's iconic wit and charm are on full display as he introduces each contestant and their talented puppy, just like we remember him.

There's Larry Roloff with Mona, the adorable miniature schnauzer who sings soprano, and Jamie Edmondson with Ruben, the soulful boxer who warms up with a pitch pipe. Lora Mae Pratt and her Alaskan Malamute, Kona, win over the audience with their singing prowess, while Sela Riley and Raisin, the beagle mix, give it their all. Dusty Hill and Aladdin, the large Sheltie, perform with a harmonica, and Richard Lyons and Columbo, the piano-playing duo, make their appearance.

You can just feel the energy in the studio as the audience and Johnny cheer on these singing pups, with the final decision made by the audience's applause. You can tell that everyone is having a blast, and so will you when you watch this video.
