The Washington Navy Yard Band performs ‘O Holy Night’ at a Christmas event with a packed auditorium. Their rendition of the song left everyone speechless as their pure harmonies reverberated throughout the entire hall.
“O Holy Night” was composed by Adolphe Adam in 1847 to the French poem “Minuit, chrétiens” (Midnight, Christians) written by a wine merchant and poet, Placide Cappeau (1808–1877).
The US Navy Band was formed in 1916 when 16 members of the USS Kansas band joined the 17 members from the presidential yacht, the Mayflower. They were named the “Washington Navy Yard Band” and spent hours practicing.
Over the years, they have become more popular. They travel all across the country to perform for military events, political events and civilian events, too. This Christmas performance was played to a packed theatre.
