“Viral internet challenges or trends can sometimes be rather lame or downright dangerous – like the Tide Pod Challenge, the Cinnamon Challenge, or the Fire Challenge. However, some others can be for a good cause, like the Ice Bucket Challenge, or others can be innocent and hilariously funny. This viral trend is one of the fun ones.
Police officers all over the U.S. have been participating in a viral challenge called the Police Officer Lip Sync Challenge. Cops lip sync to some of the most-well known, classic songs out there. Viewers have been loving the results of this challenge. It’s great to see everyone lighten up a bit and just enjoy some good music.
Five police officers from a small town in Owasso, Oklahoma accepted the Lip Sync Challenge. For the challenge, they choose Queen’s iconic hit “Bohemian Rhapsody.” This is one of the biggest songs out there vocally, but these officers were up for the challenge.
To make their performance even more memorable, they chose to put a touch of ‘Wayne’s World’ on it. All of the men had outrageously bad wigs on and mimicked the voices of the characters in the movie. It all starts when one officer gets picked up for their night shift outside his home. Two officers in costume were already sitting in the back seat when he got into the car. The classic song started as soon as the last addition got in the car.
Singing their hearts out on their way to the station, they spot a friend of theirs sitting outside alone, so they stop to check on him. They could clearly see that Phil was “partied out” by the dazed look on his face. Being good friends, they wanted to give him a ride, but Garth, the driver, was concerned that Phil would “honk” in the car. One of them vouched for Phil, even offering a “no honk guarantee.”
With Phil in tow, they all pile back into the car and take off again, lights flashing. When they start singing again, Phil perks up and starts joining in. This lip sync is complete with head banging during the instrumental interlude halfway through. It was quite hilarious seeing all those bad wigs flying.
The OPD put on a great ‘Wayne’s World’ version of the “Bohemian Rhapsody.” You’ve never seen anything like this before. While it seems like an odd combination, you’ve got to love their dedication to this challenge.”
