Virtual tour lets you stroll through the famous ‘Bonanza’ TV home

The amazing 3D-modeled tour of the Ponderosa home from the hit TV show ‘Bonanza’ is a real treat. Viewers get a virtual tour of the rooms while learning some behind the scene information about the show.

The stars of the show were Lorne Greene as Ben Cartwright. Pernell Robers as Adam Cartwright. Dan Blocker as Hoss and Micheal Landon as Little Joe. The tour begins with an overhead view that shows the entrance, the living room with the massive fireplace, the upstairs, the kitchen, and the dining area.

The home changed so much throughout the series that the host of this YouTube channel, Marina, had to choose a single season to spotlight. She chose season 2, featuring a red-striped sofa with a chunky coffee table in the middle. There’s also a wood gun rack with a bookcase below and an epic vaulted ceiling with wood beams.

The fantastic fireplace was a huge focal point of the room. A fan of the show said, ‘It was large enough to park a Buick in there!’ Then, viewers get to see the entire living area in a wonderful 3D model. The entry to the home has a table, grandfather clock, and a chair. The den’s design perfectly matched Lorne Greene’s character ‘Ben Cartwright.’ Many have said that Lorne was exactly like his character on the show.

Maybe it is true since Lorne built a replica of this Bonanza home for himself in Mesa, California. Plastered walls, chunky furniture, and wood beams complete the rustic theme.

The doorways from the exterior of the home don’t match the interior. This is true of most TV homes that host Marina has documented. The viewer has to suspend their belief on how homes function since the exterior shots of the home aren’t actually the same layout as the interior scenes. Many rooms were used for multiple different scenes. Ben’s room also doubled as Little Joe’s room. And it was even the guest room on several occasions.

At first, Ben Cartwright’s character was stern, but Lorne Greene recommended that the character be changed to have a warmer relationship with his son. The change was allowed, and Ben became the wise, loving father we all remember. The 3D modeled tour of the upstairs shows everyone’s bedroom set to Western music. It is a fascinating look into the set of the hit TV show ‘Bonanza.’
