Animals have proven their intelligence to us on many different occasions. When it comes to brainpower, elephants, dogs, and primates are usually at the top of the list. But recently, some scientists decided to test the intelligence of crows. And as it turns out, they in fact, have very high intelligence scores. This experiment is going to baffle you!
Dr. Alex Taylor studies and conducts research on wild birds. In this experiment, he set a difficult problem solving task for his test subject, 007. This amazing video comes from Inside the Animal Mind: Episode 2 from BBC Two. Are crows the ultimate problem solvers? Prepare to be stunned!
This wild bird is an average looking crow. But he is no ordinary bird. He had an eight stage puzzle to solve in order to get a treat. Was he successful? Well, let’s just say that he didn’t leave hungry. He started in the right place, and quickly figured out that the short stick he obtained in stage 1 did not work for stage 8. You can probably guess why he wanted to try stage 8 instead of 2.
But it didn’t take this bird long to figure out how to get what he wanted. If I hadn’t seen it myself in this video, I don’t think I would have believed it. I knew crows were pretty clever, but this one really takes the cake.
Will the crow defeat the puzzle? Watch the experiment in the video below! Let us know what you expected in the comments below!
