Christmas is in the air and with it, a wide array of Christmas songs. I’ve been browsing a lot of videos lately and one of my new favorite categories is Christmas songs duets. I have many favorites like the one Michael Bublé did with Shania Twain of the song “White Christmas.” The two of them are very talented and the rendition of this song is one of the best.
Another favorite collaboration is the one by Christina Aguilera and Brian McKnight. They performed the song “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” Christina was just starting her career at the time, and it was then that she did many memorable duets, with this one being one of the people’s favorite.
If you’re like me, you love old Christmas songs. One of my favorites is The Christmas Song, by Nat King Cole. This song made its most famous duet to date with none other than Natalie Cole. Thanks to the magic of magnetic tape and today’s technology, we could hear what would not have been possible otherwise. The way their voices sound together is so great, it makes you believe that they had rehearsed it together.
Duets are not only the ones grabbing attention in the holidays. Some collaborations feature three singers, such as the case with Kelly Clarkson, Reba McEntire, and Trisha Yearwood’s cover of the classic “Silent Night.” When I heard they were doing a collaboration on this song, I wasn’t sure of what the result would be, but when I finally listened to it, I was glad I did.
Another memorable duet was the one done by Vanessa Williams and Billy Porter singing “Joy to the world.” This song contains a message of joy and love replacing sin and sorrow. The message could also be interpreted as being about life after the second coming of Christ. This has become a hymn that is used throughout Christian denominations around the world. Other honorable mentions include Olivia Newton-John and Jon Secada’s ‘Every Time It Snows’, David Bowie and Bing Crosby’s ‘Little Drummer Boy/ Peace on Earth’, and Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra’s ‘White Christmas’.
The following video us right up there with the best Christmas duets of all time. It features Josh Groban with none other than Tony Bennett. They perform the hit “Christmas time is here” in the grandest way. Tony Bennett has been a favorite for many generations, and Josh Groban really needs no introduction. Without giving the performance away, this song is so good, it will give you goosebumps!
