‘White Christmas’ Song by Andrea Bocelli was Voted the 2nd Most Popular Song of the 20th Century

Enjoy the Andrea Bocelli Version of the Evergreen ‘White Christmas’

The song ‘White Christmas’ as performed by Bing Crosby in 1942, was voted the second most popular song of the 20th century. This beautiful Christmas song was only toped by Judy Garland’s ‘Over The Rainbow.’ In 2009, 67 years after the Crosby original, in the 21st century, this song still rang out Christmas cheer, when the world-renowned tenor, Italian opera singer, songwriter, and record producer, Andrea Bocelli included the song in his first holiday album, called ‘My Christmas.’

What makes the Bocelli cover special is the unique Bocelli voice, which was described by Celine Dion as “if God would have a singing voice, he must sound a lot like Andrea Bocelli.” Which is quite apt, in respect of his Christmas songs on the album. The album was released in 2009, and the song ‘White Christmas’ was also released on 3 November of the same year as a single. During 2009 Bocelli performed the song live on various television shows and live performances.

Released shortly before Christmas, 2.2 million copies of the album were sold in the last two months of 2009 in the United States alone, with worldwide sales exceeding 5 million copies. Being so different from each other one would never like to compare the Bing Crosby version against that of Bocelli.

Bocelli’s works cannot be compared to the achievements of any other singer, as he is a legend already in his own time, keeping the Guinness Book of World Record, with the release of his classical album ‘Sacred Arias’, as he simultaneously held the top three positions on the US Classical Albums charts. So all that remains is to sit back and to enjoy another legendary singer’s version of this timeless song.
