Willie Nelson’s Son Delivers A Comforting ‘Sound Of Silence’ While Quarantined At His Home

In our new reality brought on by the coronavirus, where families are cautioned to stay inside, and once crowded gathering places are now empty and silent, Lukas Nelson has an important message to deliver. Through his cover of ‘The Sound of Silence,’ Nelson reminds us to say safe and, most importantly, ’don’t be silent.’

“The Sound of Silence,” originally released by Simon & Garfunkel in 1964, has been covered countless numbers of times by artists big and small since then, just one example being the wildly successful a cappella group Pentatonix in 2019. This version by Lukas Nelson, however, brings a whole new meaning to the ageless tune.

Nelson developed his love for music at a very young age, knowing even then that he’d want to turn his passion into a career one day. When he was barely a teen, he began playing guitar and writing his own songs. Today he is a successful artist with a band of his own.

Nelson says he was inspired to create his own take on the ‘The Sound Of Silence’ in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic that has swept across the world. By encouraging us all to stay safe inside our homes, but not let the virus silence our sense of community, Nelson’s performance couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time.
