There are times when the Internet gets all intellectual on you. Although most of us are used to logging in to the Internet for entertainment in the form of a few laughs, there are many videos that really mess with your head. These brain teasers and riddles are very entertaining but can be quite challenging as well. Some people do enjoy getting their hands on a difficult logic puzzle or solving a pattern of numbers. Others just don’t have the patience to sit around and figure out the answer. Especially if it’s a trick question.
Some years ago, this one particular riddle started going viral. People would trick their friends and family, they recorded their reactions and uploaded the results on YouTube. This particular brain teaser, also known as the “E-Y-E-S riddle” consists of asking someone what Y-E-S spells. The person usually answers correctly and feels confident he or she will end up passing the test. When the person is asked what E-Y-E-S spells, their minds would appear to be unable to process the information.
On June 21st, 2016, one of these videos went viral. It’s about a woman named Michelle Bartlett. She uploads a video of a man (her husband probably) attempting the infamous E-Y-E-S riddle. The video starts with Michelle asking her husband what Y-E-S spells. Like most people, he answers correctly and confidently. By the look on his face, he knows this will be a trick question and looks curious to see what the next question is going to be.
Then Michelle asks the dreaded second question: “What does E-Y-E-S spell?” “E-YES,” the man answers confidently—and Michelle immediately starts cracking up. The man looks so confused when he asks: “What is happening?” He has no idea why his wife is laughing so much. Did he get it wrong? It must be a trick question because he is pretty sure of the answer.
Michelle asks him the same question again. Again, her husband gives the same answer: “E-Yes.” He keeps repeating the answer and that only makes Michelle laugh so hard, she can hardly even breathe. Once again, she says through her laughter. “E-Y-E-S,” the man answers again. “E-YES!” before laughing too.
He tries to figure out what is going on. It is pretty funny for me because I know the answer, but for him, it sounds like the most difficult riddle he has ever heard. As his last resort, the man asks “what?” Then he starts writing the word in the air with his fingers trying to find out the answer. This is just too funny. This video is a classic by now, but it never gets old. If you haven’t seen it, then you’re in for a treat.
