This Woman Saved That Baby Deer’s Life. What The Deer Did In Return? Incredible!

When we think of wild animals what comes to mind? Normally we think of animals out in their natural habitat, like fields or forests. We imagine rabbits, squirrels, deer, chipmunks and all sorts of other furry critters. Normally we think of them doing what they would normally do, acting like animals in their natural environment.

Well, that is normally what we would think of too but then we were introduced to Melanie Butera and Dillie the deer. Melanie, a veterinarian, was given a blessing in a small fawn she found in her yard back in 2004. A blessing that Melanie said has just kept on giving.

See it was a blessing for Melanie, that she found the fawn, because she was going through a very difficult time. She had just been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and needed something to help bring her spirits back up, that’s where Dillie comes in at.

Dillie was a little fawn who had been abandoned by her mother because she was blind and ill and needed someone to take care of her in order to survive. Melanie and her husband were more than happy to help out the little deer and that is where the story of Dillie began.

That was several years ago now and the couple still has Dillie, who is more than a pet to the couple but rather a beloved family member. Dillie was able to help them when they needed it the most and they did the same for her. The deer and couple realized just how much they needed each other and from the need a dependency and love blossomed.

The Butera’s say that Dillie will always have a home with them, no matter how old or big she gets, she is part of their family and they wouldn’t have it any other way.
