One of the most heartbreaking things for a child is to lose a pet by having him or her run away. It’s one thing if the pet passes away from old age or sickness. That can’t be helped. On the other hand, having the pet run off into the night – it could make the child also grow up wondering if it was all his or her fault. That’s why this reunion video is so endearing to watch, since it brings some order to one child’s life again.
Cursor was a cat who adored Claudia. The family had a lot of photos of them hanging out when she was a baby. How well did they get along? There’s a photo of her biting his ear and he’s just kind of like “Eh. No big deal. Babies bite my ear all the time.” But then Cursor ran away and had been gone for three years. Claudia remembered him well even though she was a mere two years old at the time of his disappearance.
Claudia had cried every day. Now the video shows the five-year-old at a pet shelter. After a few questions, a staff member brings out Cursor and she lets out a delighted yell and grabs him in her arms. He clearly remembers her since he doesn’t even flinch or try to scratch every single person in sight. Claudia and Cursor are reunited and all is right with the world again for this little girl.
What had happened was that someone at the shelter recognized Cursor’s picture from one of the numerous entreaties her mommy had put out. The shelter sent her a video and they recognized his defining characteristic – walking around gently bonking his head on stuff. I have no idea where they came up with the name Cursor. He doesn’t blink and he doesn’t suddenly start typing stuff. One of life’s great mysteries, I guess.
