You always hear people say that children are our future. The little girl who stars in this video gives all of us reason for optimism. Maya is a cute, correction, downright adorable 17-month-old and she can show off some fantastic talents for such a youngster.
In the video posted below, Maya starts by singing the classic hymn “Amazing Grace.” Getting the harmony right is a demanding enough task, but the incredible thing is that she doesn’t even miss a word.
As if knowing all the words wasn’t enough of an accomplishment for someone who isn’t even a year-and-a-half old, she then proceeds to belt out the alphabet song followed by her perfect rendition of “You Are My Sunshine.” The best part is how much fun she’s having, swaying and using her arms to express herself.
Maya’s brilliance isn’t just musical. At an age when most children have only just begun to speak their first language, she’s already moved on to a second language, Spanish. Dora The Explorer helped her out there.
Mastering linguistics isn’t enough for Maya. She’s also working on math! Yes, math. Remember, she’s only 17 months old! To put it mildly, this isn’t bad for a beginner!
One of the more endearing aspects of Maya’s performance is the way this fantastic toddler is not in the least bit embarrassed to show us her remarkable talents, musical, linguistic, and mathematical. All it takes to get her to show off is some gentle encouragement from her father.
