Alan Jackson Performs Touching Tribute To 9/11 Victims With ‘Where Were You’ At Seaworld

Audiences at SeaWorld had the great opportunity to see Alan Jackson perform a moving tribute to 9/11 victims in April of 2014. The country music star sang his hit “Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning)”, a track he released just two months after the attack on the World Trade Center.

His performance was part of a concert series at SeaWorld, which also featured artists such as Kid Rock and Hank Williams, Jr.

Jack released “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)” in November of 2001, two months after the attack on the World Trade Center on September 11. The song talks about the reactions following 9/11, and illustrated some of the intense emotions surrounding the attacks.

“Where were you when the world stopped turnin’ that day in September,”sings Jackson. “Did you stand there in shock at the sight of that black smoke risin’ against that blue sky…Or did you just sit down and cry?”

The track hit the No.1 spot on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart, and stayed there for five consecutive weeks. Jackson earned his first Grammy for “Best Country Song” with this track.
