There are times when you see a small, helpless animal, and you’re tempted to help it. Before you do that, you have to make sure that its mommy or daddy isn’t around. They won’t know that you’re just trying to give aid. But if there are no parents there, help with caution. Then again, there are times that this “helpless” animal will come to you. Like the case of this video of a man having an orphaned baby squirrel decide that he’s his new buddy, no ifs, ands, or buts.
We see the man standing outside by the pool. He’s holding the camera and this baby squirrel is bonding like mad with him. He picks him up and then if he puts him back on the ground, the squirrel follows him and climbs up his leg to get picked up again. When he’s holding him, the squirrel gently nibbles on his hand as if he’s trying to suckle the thumb. It is one of the cutest things I have seen.
The YouTube page showed this as being uploaded in 2012 and the man who uploaded it says that the squirrel is roaming wild outside and doesn’t come to him. That’s as nature should be – the squirrel got help and then became independent enough to survive on his own. I’m sure that deep down, he knows that he owes his life to this man. Maybe one day when he’s even older, he might revisit him. Who knows?
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a cuter video than this that features a squirrel. The one with the squirrel that’s adopted by a cat is cute, but this one wins out in my heart.
