There have been some great movies and TV shows about escaping from prison. “Prison Break” and “The Shawshank Redemption” are the first two that come to mind. Now we have another addition to the genre: “Sophie’s Great Crate Breakout.”
A woman would put Sophie, her young Maltese dog, into a crate. Within minutes, she’d see her racing around again with her other dog, Twitch, a German shepherd. What was going on here? How was Sophie getting out? Was she a Terminator like Robert Patrick was in “Terminator 2” and thus able to ooze right through any cage or fence? Or was she a master lockpick? Her owner HAD to find out.
Determined to get to the bottom of the situation, she set up a camera near Sophie’s crate. Then she did her usual routine of putting her in and covering it up with a blanket. Putting a blanket over a crate usually keeps a dog from barking, since it may think it’s nighttime and go to sleep. The owner walked out of the room and then what happened next was glorious.
No, there were no images of Tom Cruise being lowered from the ceiling like in “Mission Impossible” and there were also no powerful scenes like Tim Robbins climbing out of a sewer pipe in the pouring rain like in “Shawshank Redemption.” It’s even better. You must see the video to completely appreciate it. It’s amazing.
The moral of the story here is: Never. Ever. Underestimate. Dogs. Don’t do it. They are way cleverer than you think. Sophie’s owner learned that the hard way. If she bought a lock, then the next video would probably be “Sophie The Lockpicker.”
