Remember Bob Ross and his hit television show The Joy of Painting? His son Steve is back teaching Bob’s famous technique again, and is quite frankly taking the internet by storm.

In 1995, Steve took a hiatus from painting and the public eye, resurfacing recently to organize a painting workshop in Winchester, Indiana, with his friend and fellow painter, Dana Jester.

To their surprise, they were greeted by dozens of fans who missed Bob Ross’ painting show and soothing voice. According to many, Steve has the same soothing voice as his father did and may even be a better landscape artist.

The only real discernible difference between them seemed to be their hairstyles, Bob with his iconic red perm and Steve with his umber curls styled in a sprawling mullet.

This shouldn’t be surprising as Steve has painted for as long as he can remember and even appeared on several episodes of The Joy of Painting. He would also travel the country, teaching people his father’s techniques while Bob was filming his TV show.

In an interview with The Daily Beast, Steve said, “I didn’t realize that people missed me or wanted to have me do this again. I always knew, but what I mean is, maybe I didn’t want to know. Maybe I reserved the right to remain ignorant.”

When asked how it felt to be back in his father’s shoes, Steve said, “Like the first time I’ve had the sun on my face in a thousand years.”
