Carol wanted to know which husband was her biological Grandfather. Carol says in the interview, “I was writing a memoir. So I called my cousin because I want to get all of these husbands, you know, straight and everything.”

Carol says she thought Mr. Creighton was her Mother’s Father, but her cousin corrected her and said, “Your mama was Mr. Milton’s daughter.” Carol said she never knew, but her cousin said everyone else in the family knew.

She wondered why her mother called her Creighton instead of Milton and even wondered if her mother knew the real story. Her Grandma Mae Jones married William Creighton when she was 20 years old.

She gave birth to Carol’s mother “Aina,” roughly six years later. They divorced 5 years after she was born. But, in their divorce papers, it says Mae was in questionable relationships with other men at the time of their marriage. So, Mae married the man she had the relationship with right after the papers were released. Later, she divorced him, and in those papers, she says the only one she ever loved was her former husband, whom she separated from.

‘Ancestry’ tested Carol’s DNA at this point, and the test results show that William Henry Creighton is her biological Grandfather. She says, “Wow, I’ll be darned.”

The interviewer asks what it’s like to see the old pictures of her Grandfather now, seeing that this matter has finally been put to rest. Carol says, “My heart is going, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, but I’m glad I know.”
