Chiquita is a three-year-old Welsh corgi who was brought to the Arizona Humane Society because her owner could no longer care for her. When she arrived at the shelter she weighed a whopping 40 pounds. A typical wait for a female corgi her age is 22 to 24 pounds.
This poor corgi was deemed extremely obese. Ashley Goebel of the Arizona Humane Society said, “Her owner fell on hard times and wasn’t able to take care of her anymore. She could barely walk around, let alone jump up a sidewalk curb. It was really sad to watch.”
Because of her extra weight she had a very hard time finding someone to adopt. It took months of good old-fashioned exercise and portion control to drop off the weight. With reasonable dietary control she will never have this issue with her weight again.
