A deadly wolf caught in a trap – watch the terrifying moment it was released

Hunting in the backwoods of Wisconsin is not without its dangers, especially when you know and understand the kind of animals you’re likely to run in to.

So, when John Oens went to inspect his coyote trap he got a lot more than he bargained for! Upon approaching, it must have been a shocking and frightening sight to see a large timber wolf pinned to the ground. With the trap well camouflaged in the undergrowth, the animal was helplessly caught within moments of unwittingly walking through the area. Although it doesn’t kill outright, the trap can be fatal for animals if they’re not released. The wolf would surely have starved to death had it been left there.

But how do you help an animal known for it fearless ferocity and lethally sharp teeth?! As stunningly beautiful as the timber wolf is, it would be pretty nerve-wracking being this close to one! Even when trying to help them, you never know how a wild animal is going to react. There’s a good chance they might not just say thank you and be on their merry way!

Thinking fast, Oens enlists the help of his hunting buddies and brings in a large piece of wood in an attempt to protect himself as he approaches the prone timbre wolf. But it becomes agitated, and your heart will be in your mouth as John attempts to put the wooden board between himself and the animal like a shield. Panicking, the wolf begins to thrash about and it’s a terrifying sight – even from the comfort of your own home!

Moving slowly, he continues to try to help the animal, but once he’s in position to release the trap’s hold, he’s in the most vulnerable position yet. He’s inches away from the wolf’s bite – and of course, once the animal is freed, there’s no real indication of what it would do.

It’s like watching a movie on the edge of your seat as John slowly bends to release the wolf, hiding behind the wooden board the whole time. Then, at the height of the drama, he manages to let the deadly animal go – and it bolts for the cover of the woods. Everyone – including the wolf – can breathe a sigh of relief! Although meant for coyotes, any animal can get caught in this trap, so you always need to be on your guard when out in the wilderness here!
