Dublin Nightlife: Irish Guys Impersonating Conor McGregor Get A Big Surprise

For those of you who have never heard of the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship), it’s the major organization that promotes mixed martial arts, a combat sport with elements of boxing, wrestling, and techniques from many different Asian fighting traditions.

One of UFC’s biggest stars is Conor McGregor, an Irishman also known as “Mystic Mac.” He’s instantly recognizable thanks to the lavish beard he sports. McGregor became even more famous recently when he went up against Floyd Mayweather in a traditional boxing match. Mayweather is 11 years older then McGregor but he’s one of the boxing’s greats, so it really wasn’t surprising he defeated the bearded Irishman. Nevertheless, McGregor put in a respectable performance, lasting into the 10th round.

Around Christmastime last year, two young Irishmen were staging a mock fight on a sidewalk in Dublin. We don’t know if alcohol was involved, but let’s just say we have our suspicions. Mark and Patrick were employees of a startup company that, ironically enough, is in the business of teaching people how to achieve pain-free mobility through movement. As they sparred, they shouted McGregor’s tagline, “You’ll do nothing!”

As you’ll see in the video we’ve posted below, Mark and Patrick got a big surprise. A black Cadillac Escalade rolled up and stopped nearby. At the wheel? You guessed it, Conor McGregor himself! He took their parody of his style in good humor, and even summoned them over and gave them fist bumps. As Mark later said, he and his friend were “chuffed to get to meet one of their idols.” Some people think the whole thing was a publicity stunt. However, locals have pointed out that the road, which is a kind of nightclub row, does in fact lead to McGregor’s home.

Small world, Ireland. What did you think of Conor McGregor’s reaction to his fans’ parody? Let us know in the comments at Facebook. Don’t forget to like and share!
