Are you one of the millions of people who enjoy chewing gum on a daily basis? In this DIY video, the chef is eager to teach everyone how to make their own homemade chewing gum in just a few minutes!
Believe it or not, it’s easier than I ever imagined and only takes a few ingredients that you can find at your local supermarket.
First you’re going to need gum base. Take 2 ounces of it and put it into a microwave safe container. You can probably find it in your local supermarket but if not, it is available for sale online. Microwave the pellets on high for 90 seconds until they start to get gooey and soften.
Pour 2 ounces of corn syrup into a mug and add some boiling water. He then pours 2/3 cup to 1 cup of confectionary sugar onto a cutting board. Pour the corn syrup onto the malleable gum base pellets then stir it all together with a fork. Be careful it’s hot!
Pour the sticky mixture onto the confectionary sugar. Then use a rolling pin to roll it flat. Use your hands and mash all the sugar and gum mixture together with your hands. It’s going to be very gooey. Pour the remaining sugar over it and continue to mix it with your hands and with the rolling pin.
Now put in your flavor. You can use Jell-O, Kool Aid, or any kind of colorful powder. You can put in as much flavor as you want. He adds in about 2-4 teaspoons of Jell-O.
Continue to flatten the mixture until it’s all mixed together. Then take a knife and cut it into pieces of gum.
