All too often people are so wrapped up in their own personal lives that they don’t take the time to notice those around them. Everyone around you is going through some battle you don’t know about. This is especially the case when we go out to eat. If you happen to look up from your cell phone and see someone or something strange, you just shrug it off and go back to your own life. Thankfully, not all people are like this. This picture reminds us there are still some genuinely good people left in the world.
A picture of one random act of kindness is going viral on the internet right now. Alabama natives Jamario Howard and his two friends, Jamychol and Tae, decided they wanted some barbeque. They decided on a local favorite, Brad’s Bar-B-Que in Oxford, Alabama.
While they were waiting for their food, Jamario happened to look over and notice an elderly woman sitting alone. After a few minutes, he sadly realized she wasn’t just waiting to meet a lunch date. According to him, his first thought was, “Dang, I’d hate to have to eat alone.”
He kindly asked the elderly woman if she would like to sit with him and his friends for lunch. After chatting for a while with Eleanor, she told them that had recently lost her husband. In fact, the next day would have been their 60th wedding anniversary.
After she revealed this, Jamario quickly offered his sympathy and knew that he had done the right thing. No one should have to be alone while grieving.
Surrounded by her three new friends, Eleanor finished her lunch. They chatted about everyday life and got to know one another. Near the end of lunch, they decided to take a picture together and post it to social media. The touching photo has been shared more than 72,000 times already.
Jamario posted, “The point in this is always kind and be nice to people. You never know what they are going through. This woman changed my outlook on life and how I look at other people. Everyone has a story so do not judge! And people, I can’t stress this enough. GO SEE YOUR MOM AND YOUR GRANDPARENTS. They miss you!!”
