Michael Winslow was on ‘Police Academy,’ ‘Gremlins,’ and ‘Spaceballs.’ He said he used to be called the man of ten thousand sound effects, but he was in the hundreds of thousands now.
His son encouraged him to chase after his dreams yet again, since Michael left the industry in 1993 to raise his kids after his wife passed away. America’s Got Talent was the perfect place for him to show off all his voices and sounds.
When he came onto the stage for his audition, the judges recognized him immediately. Simon asked him what his story was, and Michael explained that he did voices ever since he was young.
He was an army brat, moving every few years. In order to keep himself entertained he would make all types of noises. The judges were excited to watch him perform.
Using only his voice Michael told the story of him growing up and discovering his talent and love for making noises. He mimicked the sound of a plane taking off, and even the sound of a radio station is changed.
It seemed that there was no sound he couldn’t make. As he continued to pretend to be a radio, he started to show off his beatboxing skills.
When he was finished he faced the judges and casually dropped his mic on the floor. It was followed by thunderous applause from the audience and judges who stood from their seats.
