They had spent time together on a dairy farm without adequate food, shelter, and water. Sid would lovingly lean into Rem for body heat. This kept Sid alive for many years.
Their initial rescuer could not take care of them anymore, and Rem and Sid did not were not living in good conditions and spent years together without a proper home. They were receiving inconsistent care from the neighbors that were asked to take care of them. The neighbor finally contacted the sanctuary. Once they were rescued, they were so happy, and they knew they finally had a forever home.
Sid still leans up against Rem on cold winter nights for body heat and cuddles. You can see the emotional bond they share, and it is beautiful.
