Senior horse starts each day by checking on all her neighbors

Each day, Jenny the Arabian mare takes herself on unsupervised walks through the streets of Frankfurt. She knows where to go and how to avoid trouble.

Some horses are just made to wander. Jenny, a 22-year-old Arabian mare, is one of them. This gentle giant loves her daily walks through the streets of Frankfurt, completely unsupervised.

Jenny knows exactly where to go on her walks. She knows the best places to nibble on the greenery, knows how to avoid trouble, and loves seeing all of the familiar faces on their daily commutes.

It wasn’t always like this. Jenny used to go on daily rides with her owner, but he soon realized that she would be just fine on her own. Until recently, she wasn’t completely alone: she used to walk with another mare named Charly, who recently passed away.

But Jenny continues her walks on her own, completely unfazed. She’s always been safe and never caused any problems for the people of Frankfurt. She even wears a sign on her halter: “My name is Jenny. I didn’t run away, I am just walking. Thank you.”

But most people in Jenny’s part of Frankfurt know and love her. For the last 12 years, she’s walked between 9 and 12 miles each day – and she doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon!
