The video below features the Manul (usually referred to as Pallas’s cat). This is a small wildcat named and discovered by a German-born botanist and zoologist – Peter Pallas. According to the Wildcat Conservation website, their habitat is characterized by an extreme continental climate with little rainfall, low humidity and a wide range of temperatures. “These little predators prefer valleys and rocky areas where they have some cover, and avoid completely open habitats.”
These cats are known as endangered species, as a near depletion of the Manul took place during the first part of the 20th century, when people hunted them for their precious fur coats. Nowadays animal conservationists are trying to preserve the cat by raising awareness about the species.
Unlike domestic cats, the Manul is not a friendly cat. However, they are very curious, as you can see in this video. When the Manul noticed a camera near his den, he was totally mesmerized with it!
